Main Location:
Inhabits central Uganda, the area north of Lake Victoria and between Lakes Kyoga and Albert; also found in the tsetse-infested area south of Lake Albert and east of Semliki river.
Developed out of interbreeding of Small East African Zebu in Uganda (mainly the Nkedi) and the Ankole Sanga (mainly the Bahima, but also the Watusi in recent times). The Ankole cattle have been mixed with the adjacent Bukedi Zebu since the 17th century (Rege and Tawah, 1999).
