Main Location: 
Inhabits north and north-east of Teso district of central Uganda; adjacent to the Karamoja.
Origin: 
The Usuk is considered a product of Nkedi-Karamajong interbreeding, because it occupies the transitional zone of their breeding area and its intermediate phenotype. The original stock descended from zebu cattle brought south into northern Uganda by migrant Hamitic, Nilotic and Bantu tribes (Rege and Tawah, 1999).
